What We Do
1. Connect ...
was a small 'practice journal' supporting student participation (student voice, student engagement, student representation, student leadership etc) in primary and secondary schools.
Connect was published bi-monthly starting in 1979. It celebrated its 40th birthday at the end of 2019; published its final print issue (#200) in April 2013 ... and was then published and available on-line for free! In 2021, it was published quarterly, and then finished publication with issue 250 in November 2021
All back copies of Connect remain freely available for download. There is a link here to an index of current and back issues; use this to browse for articles of interest. The live links will then take you to specific issues for free download.
Connect also produced a range of small publications about student participatory approaches, which can be ordered here.
2. The Global Village ...
is a weekly worldwide music radio program on Melbourne community station PBS 106.7 FM and digital.
It has been broadcast since late 1989 and is currently heard on Sundays 5-7 pm in Melbourne - plus on-line everywhere else.
In support of this, an on-line
Gig Guide of worldwide music in Melbourne and environs keeps you up to date with what's happening in live music in this area of interest.
The Global Village is also a member of the panel for producing the Transglobal World Music Charts.
3. Consultancies...
Despite formally retiring in 2004, I work in support of many school, clusters of schools and other groups - particularly around student participatory approaches such as Student Action Teams.
I also work as a critical friend in support of the VicSRC, the peak body representing school-aged students in Victoria, Australia. The VicSRC's vision is for a student-focused education system that enhances young people's capacity to change the world. The organisation exists to empower all student voices to be valued in every aspect of education.
